TeknoGeekz was involved in several projects with BanderasNews.com, three of which are presented here:
Live streaming video to a web page, from multi camera production equipment, including live titling. This is primarily in preparation for delivering live content such programming content, however the system is very usable for anything from a live videoconference to a wedding as well. The system consists of a laptop computer that multiple cameras can be connected to, and via a server running Wowza, or Red5 or Adobe Media Server, the content can be streamed live to any number of viewers. Contact us via the link at the top or bottom of this page if you have such a need.
Installation and customization of pvShopper.com, a classified ads web site that allows users to self-post. This system was then customized to display category specific display advertising in the right hand column of each page. In this way display ads can be sold for a specific category that may appeal to an advertiser in the right hand colum, in a context sensive way, aside from the normal classified ads that appear. Display ads that may be undesirable or inapplicable to another category will not be seen, much like the categories used for the classified ads themselves.
Creation of a custom solution for the "tell a friend" script of BanderasNews that had been hacked. Certain challenges were presented when there were tens of thousands of static HTML pages that would have required modification for an off the shelf script, however. One necessary addition was the use of a Captcha code to prevent the system from being flooded by spammers and hackers. The script modifications performed by TeknoGeekz, negated the changing of tens of thousands of pages.
Client:
Puesta del Sol Condominiums
Puerto Vallarta
Client was looking for a solution that a security guard could be
alerted from anywhere on the property when someone was at the gate.
Aditionally they wanted the security guard to be able to answer the
phone from anywhere on the property. This would allow the security
person to tend to other needs on the property and keep him from being
in the security booth at all times. After viewing the location, I
walked around to test WiFi strength and found excellent coverage from
a well designed WiFi network. The client was somewhat concerned when we
started talking about VoIP, and after explaining that we were only using
VoIP on the local network and not to the internet, our solution was
more accepted.
The originally proposed solution was:
Proposed
Solution
In the original proposal was a DoorBell Fon DP-28WT Doorbell Intercom
System, which offered a PSTN Pass through line on it. This then
connected to their existing wired and wireless network via a Linksys
SPA 3102, and ultimately to the WiFi Handset. The downside of
this solution was the plastic intercom box, however it was offered in
order to keep the price down. The client opted for the more ruggged
solution below.
The resulting installation:
Installed Solution
In the final installation was a
CyberData VoIP Intercom, which uses SIP directly, and offers a more
rugged metal housing and can be inset into a wall. This last point is
important for considerations of theft and vandalism. Also there are
“Door Ajar” and “Intrusion” alarms available on the unit. Sometimes it
is not just a matter of knowing the components to use, however knowing
how to configure them to best suit the need and for reliability and
performance. As stated earlier this system is completely independent of
an Internet connection. If the internet connection fails, the
system remains functioning. It does not rely on a server of any kind.
Since each device uses a fixed IP address and calling is
achieved by calling IP addresses we do not even rely on the existing DHCP server.

Client:
Casa Palapa
Puerto Vallarta
In this case a security system had been installed by a local Puerto
Vallarta Securty company who did not offer such products. The Canadian
managers had shipped to Puerto Vallarta a Digital Video Recorder (DVR)
that integrated web access. The local security company had sold the
cameras that were connected to the DVR and connected them, The local
security company however had no idea of how to set up the unit for web
access so one could view recorded images and access the live
cameras. Also there were a number of cameras that were producing images
full of noise and distortions.
Similar Unit and Installation shown:
After a review of what was installed and the materials used to
accomplish it, recommendations were made which included:
PROPER terminatrion of Coaxial BNC connectors on DVR to
camera connections.
Correct configuration of IP network interface of DVR
If necessary, after completing #1 above, change type of
coaxial cable to a type that was more suited for longer runs
When all was said and done, the system was completely functional. The
only problems were in the installation , and the original installer's
Lack of knowledge of all of the technloogies used. In this case for
instance, a technician that comes from a security camera background ,
may not have the knowledge to confiogure the IP network portion. This
is why Teknogeekz offers solutions where others can not , as we have a
well rounded knowledge of many technologies and their applications.,
combined with practical experience integrating disticntly different
technologies to create working solutions.
